Do You Remember The Time...?

WORD OF THE MONTH: Philophobia  (Fear of falling in love)

Hi Again!
To get you up to speed, two very important things have happened in my life recently.

1. I was invited to the Teen WORLD Golf Championships in Pinehurst, North Carolina.
2. I have a middle school dance on April 28, my first dance ever.

I was thinking about these things together, and it made me laugh that, despite the fact that these two events are on such insanely different scales, each is equally important to me. I mean, sure, the world championships is a great honor, and I'm pumped for it, but the dance is going to be great too. And not just because I have an awesome date for it. There is something about your first dance that, even before it happens, I know it won't be something I'll ever forget. Think about it. You probably don't remember your gymnastics meet or soccer tournament from your junior high years, but I bet that you remember your first dance, even if it was in elementary school.

It's funny how our brains work, remembering certain things for years and years while other things that may seem even more important at the time you may not be able to remember a year after. Also, in natural teenage fashion, the curious part in me wonders why, if you ask any adult what there favorite memory is, it's always something about their marriage, or the birth of their kids, etc. (This is proven: I'm 2/2 after asking my parents.) See the pattern? My conclusion is that something in the brain latches onto relationship-type memories above anything else. Weird, isn't it? My health teacher would blame hormones. I tend to agree.

Well anyway, thanks for listening to my ramblings again.
Signing off for now,
Mason
